CTNA church History
District, Elder Anna, E. Davis being moved by the power of the Holy Ghost and having a sincere desire to bring souls to the Lord, began ministering and evangelizing through door to door visitation, and in the streets, both bar and near.
Obeying God‘s call to Pastor, The Assembly Church was founded by District Elder, Anna Davis in the month of October 1968. District, Elder Davis and her family opened their home at 350 Ohio Street for the members to have a place to worship until a building was located in 1970.
The first members consisted of her husband, Elder Jesse W. Davis, her eight children, William Glen, Cecil, Darlene, Lamenta, Jessena, Shila, and Lisa; Evangelist Betty Jones, the Late Sister Bettie Steward, the late Sister Anna Fee, and the Late Dr. Lucian, and Mary Booker.
In 1970 God provided a place of worship in a little wooden framed, located church on E. 2nd Street, where church services were held through faith and high expectations from God for many years.
Soon after, God gave District Elder Davis, a vision to build up his kingdom and through her obedience, in 1976 property was purchased on Goodloe Street, and having obtained help from the Lord, the new Church facility was built three years later. The first service was held in the new building on June 15, 1979. The Late Bishop, Morris E Golder dedicated the new facility in October of 1979 and what a glorious time of rejoicing it was.
District Elder Davis had a great love for God and his house and spent countless time working in and around the church, where she managed renovations and modeling of the church building several times since it was built all while working on a new building project.
- In 1995 God gave District Elder Davis a second vision to build, during the 31st Church Anniversary in 1997, District Elder Anna Davis, informed the church of the That “Let Us Arise And Build” was ringing in her heart. The theme was “The Building of God’s Kingdom”
- As time progressed, a new sanctuary was erected, in hopes that the project could be completed. But due to health complications and circumstances the project was been delayed,
- But Thanks be to God!! Delay is not denial! With the help of God almighty we WILL AND SHALL continue to build!! For we trust no one BUT God to be the Author and the finisher of this great work that has been bestowed upon us through our Late Pastor District Elder Anna Davis.
- God, has greatly blessed the works and endeavors of District Elder Anna Davis , and time has proven that Christ Temple in New Assembly is built on a sure foundation of faith. District Elder Davis was a committed woman of God, who believed in the power of prayer and fasting, and with great faith through her ministry..The word of God touched many lives, souls were saved, set free, and delivered and many were baptized, in the name of Jesus, and filled with the precious gift of the Holy Ghost.
- On November 1st 2020, God decided that District Elder Anna Davis could rest from all her labors from this present world, and even though her work was done, the vision would continue through her very own daughter Evangelist Jessena Moore who is the 6th child of the Late Elder Jesse and District Elder Anna E Davis..
- And in the words of District Elder A. Davis.. “When my work is done, when one lays down the mantle another will pick it up..and whom ever God chooses, that we should except what God allows”
- In the year of our Lord 2022, God allowed the mantle of the Late District Elder A Davis to be picked up by her very own daughter, Evangelist Jessena Moore, who was voted in as the newest Pastor of Christ Temple New Assembly Apostolic Church.
- Shortly after, Pastor Moore and her husband Deacon Billy Moore Sr. was consecrated and installed as Pastor of Christ Temple Church by Bishop Sherman L Merritt, Diocesan of the First Apostolic Council of Kentucky and Tennessee along with the executive board of this great council, this historic event took place on November 11th, 2022.
Continuing the vision of her mother, Pastor Moore went right to work, in the summer of 2022, with the sanctuary being completely and beautifully renovated, along with updating the restrooms and the vestibule area, with anticipating the next project beginning in January of 2023, which includes remodeling and the renovation of the basement and dining areas. And with the help of The Lord, WE CAN and WE SHALL, continue the vision and the work of our Late Pastor, in the completion of the New Sanctuary area. God has been faithful in keeping his promises in where by we stand.
- Pastor Moore is not only continuing the up building of God’s kingdom physically but also the Spiritually , as she is passionate about “soul winning” going out into the hedges and the highways and compelling them to come. Pastor Moore and the CTNA church family has adopted the theme: CTNA “Soul Goals”
- Pastor Moore continues to impresses upon the church that, “Once God saves you” it’s no longer about YOU, but it’s about SOULS. “How many souls have you won to Christ since you’ve been saved?”
We must keep the faith in God, and our pastor that God’s will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Therefore, we will continue to encourage one another, in unity and love so that God will continue to receive all the Glory and Honor for the things HE has done!
“Having therefore, obtained help from God, we continue until this day.”
